Photo showing a group of European damselflies mating, laying eggs in garden pond on a sunny afternoon. The damselflies all seemed to favour laying their eggs in this particular part of the pond, within some blanketweed and next to the lily pads. Other names for this species include common / northern bluet or common blue, while the Latin name is: Enallagma cyathigerum. It is often mistaken for the very similar Azure damselfly (Latin name: Coenagrion puella).
