Photo showing two pairs of European damselflies mating, laying eggs in garden pond on a sunny afternoon. The damselflies are quite symmetrical in their pose and it almost looks as if the image is divided by a mirror. Other names for this species include common / northern bluet or common blue, while the Latin name is: Enallagma cyathigerum. It is often mistaken for the very similar Azure damselfly (Latin name: Coenagrion puella).
