For the first few weeks of their lives, the ewe is very protective of its baby and provides all of its food in the form of milk. At six weeks old, lambs begin to graze on the meadow grass, although this can be a difficult time for the young sheep, if parasites are lurking in the grass. Farmer's often worm the lambs at this stage, to prevent illness and possibly death.
