Photo showing a spider's web pictured early in the morning with an autumnal background of red, yellow and orange leaves, when it was covered in morning dew drops. The spider web belongs to a European garden spider / English cross - named because of the pattern of white dots on the back of this common arachnid that form the shape of a cross. Also known as diadem, orb and orbweaver spiders, the orbweaver weaves its spiral web to catch insects and waits patiently in the centre for its prey to arrive - and when it does, the spider quickly wraps the insect in silk before biting it with its venomous fangs.
