Pale sandstone forms an attractive base for a wall, with this particular boundary weathering over the years. Re-pointed / facing on the blocks is necessary maintenance over the years, due to general frost damage, where the pointing gradually breaks up and falls away, allowing water and damp to potentially damage the wall when the frosts return.
