Double-glazed, self-cleaning Pilkington K glass is becoming a popular choice for conservatory roofs, although this is not a cheap option and in fact, glass roofs such as these can be more than three or four times the price of cheap polycarbonate roofing. However, unless the roof of a conservatory is completely clear, adjacent rooms in the house will loose a significant amount of natural light. Pilkington glass roofs also have the advantage that they are much quieter when it rains, as plastic polycarb roofs are known for being noisy during a storm.
