Rock armour is just one of many different ways to hold back sea erosion caused by the tide. Although this type of natural barrier does help to prevent erosion, the cost of this rocky defence is extremely expensive and many consider it to be an eyesore, devaluing the beach when it comes to its recreational attributes.
