The pier at Swanage remains in an excellent state of repair, thanks to a team of committed volunteers, who both actively fund raise and maintain the structure. The volunteers paint all of the metalwork each year to prevent it from becoming rusty, due to the constant sea spray attacking and eroding the structure.
