The pole can simply be pushed into the ground, being ideal if you don't have a tree to hang your feeders from. It is important to only buy recommended bird feeders where the mesh is small enough that the contents don't fall out, but big enough to prevent any possible damage to beaks. Nylon mesh bags should never be used, as they can trap feet and beaks.
