Photo showing a baby chick hatching from egg / eggshell in hand. This brown and yellow striped chick is a baby guinea fowl, although it looks very similar to baby pheasants and quail, and some types of bantam. It is pictured at the end of its incubation and hatching cycle, being wet and curled up as it emerges from its shell. A few hours later, is was fluffy, walking around and eating with its family.
