This particular nest box has a tiny entrance hole of just 25 mm, which is the perfect size to entice blue tits to nest inside. If you are building a nesting box for great tits or hedge sparrows, then you will need to make the hole a little larger, with 28 mm generally being the recommended size for these bird species. For house sparrows, a hole of 32 mm is a requirement.
