Wild domestic pigeons often gather and breed in large numbers within towns, where they scavenge food and leftovers from parks, public squares and bins. Town councils often request that people do not feed these birds, in an attempt to help keep their numbers in check, while others spend considerable amounts of money removing nests and eggs during the breeding season, as part of official pest control programs.
