Many builder's have their own recipes for concrete, although a general mixture can be made by using a ratio of approximately one part water, two parts cement and three parts sand - the 1:2:3 ratio. Chippings can also be added to the concrete mixer, along with washing-up liquid, which acts as a 'plasticiser' to make the concrete more workable and slow down the setting rate / time.
