Photo showing a large trident maple bonsai tree (acer buergerianum) that is part of a Japanese garden and is shown growing on its own wooden plinth stand. The three has leaves with three lobes, hence its name, tri-dent maple. This particular bonsai was imported from Japan, where it was field grown to achieve its huge trunk, being approximately 20 feet tall at one stage, before being heavily pruned back.
