The garden has been covered with a weed blanket membrane and then a generous topping of rotted bark mulch, to reduce the weeds and help retain the moisture. The surrounding brick wall protects the young plants from wind and weather extremes as the shrubs establish themselves. A laurel hedge has been planted in front of the wall. Plants and shrubs in the garden include Aucuba japonica, Choisya ternata (Mexican orange blossom), Escallonia, Euonymus, Hebe glaucophylla 'variegata', Hydrangeas, Mahonia, Photinia x fraseri 'Red Robin', Pittosporum, Viburnum tinus and Weigela florida foliis purpureis.
