Hostas are often planted in landscape gardens, since they offer instant mounds of foliage, together with attractive lilac purple flowers. These perennial plants are herbaceous in their nature, requiring shady conditions and moist soil. However, they are a real favourite with slugs and so their leaves will quickly be eaten if you are not able to prevent the slug attacks.
