This mass of lavender flowers is part of a specialist farm, where lavandula plants are being grown for their fragrant seed heads and essential oils. The purple flowers last for many weeks in the summer, when they attract lots of bees, butterflies and other insects during this time. After the dead flower heads have been remove, the lavender plants are then lightly pruned so that they retain their shape and remain nice and bushy for the coming growing season round the corner.
