Photo showing an old block paved pathway, with weathered / aged red bricks that are full of character. The bricks in this path have been laid out in a traditional alternating 'basketweave' pattern, while some are simply in lines, sideways and lengthways on ('stacked bond' style), defining the edges and pattern. This simple footpath leads through a garden of herbaceous flowers, which can be seen growing of the edges of the path and softening its appearance. Planted here are various flowers such as cornflower, stachys, veronica, verbena, salvia, globe artichoke, penstemon, gaura, lavender, pink osteospermum, hollyhocks, sea holly (eryngium maritimum), catmint (nepeta) and sweet peas (trained up wigwams of hazel twigs), as well as some rose bushes and poppies.
