After the broken tiles have been laid out and arranged on the adhesive, and then allowed to set in place, the mosaic is then grouted, to create a smooth, solid, hard-wearing surface. Although a mosaic offers a particularly cheap way to create a tiled floor, it can be extremely time consuming to fit all of the pieces together to form an appealing pattern.
