Photo showing a short horse chestnut tree (conker tree / buckeye / aesculus hippocastanum) growing in the countryside. This tree has a rather 'squat' appearance with a thick trunk that is out of proportion to the height of the tree, as the majority of its trunk snapped off during a storm a few years earlier. The lower branches have now started to grow upwards, as new 'leaders', as the tree regrows and recovers.
