This garden is filled with foliage plants, which provide much seasonal interest in the garden, with the spring foliage and rich autumn hues of the maples being particularly attractive, along with the flowers of the azaleas / dwarf rhododendrons. Almost all species of azalea require acid soil conditions and as this particular garden has heavy clay soil, the rhododendrons are being grown in pots, being planted in special ericaceous compost.
