Commonly referred to as a Chilean pine, monkey puzzles always appear extremely exotic, originating from Chile and now being grown in sub-tropical botanic gardens all over the world. Due to the extremely age of this particular species, the tree is often called a living fossil by gardeners and horticulturists alike.
