This pumpkin plant (Cucurbita pepo / squash) is being grown in an unusual way, as a climbing plant grown up an arbour made with trellis, supported only by its tendrils. The pumpkin is therefore hanging down freely, which has the advantage that the bottom won't get dirty or rot - however, if it gets too large and too heavy before harvest time, it may fall off if left unsupported.
