Stock Images of Elm (Trees)

Pictures include the young leaves and shoots of an English elm tree (ulmus procera) that is a part of a countryside hedgerow. Full-grown elms were once a common sight throughout the landscape of Britain, that is until their sad demise following a severe outbreak of Dutch elm disease in the late 1960s, which killed more than 25 million trees in the United Kingdom alone. Disease-resistant trees have since been bred, although the landscape of the countryside does appear to have changed forever due to this seemingly innocent, tiny bark beetle spreading the offending 'sac fungi'.
